Why Everyone Should Dry Brush

DO YOU DRY SKIN BRUSH?!?

Dry skin brushing is one of the simplest, easiest, and cheapest health practices.

Between needing to detox from overseas travel and heal my foot and ankle from my fall down the porch steps, I've been doing it A LOT lately.

If you've never heard of dry skin brushing, it's exactly what it sounds like.

You use a brush with stiff natural bristles on dry skin to help release toxins and provide a myriad other health benefits.
In fact, it's an awesome all-around treatment!

Not to mention it's easy, inexpensive, and doesn’t have any negative side effects.

BENEFITS OF DRY SKIN BRUSHING
  • exfoliation and softer skin -- sloughs off millions of dead skin cells, which encourages cell renewal and tightens the skin, making it much softer to the touch and giving it a healthy glow
  • opens and clears the pores -- removing dead skin cells allows the skin to breathe and eliminate bacteria and debris more efficiently
  • stimulates lymph and improves drainage
  • helps increase the release of toxins
  • helps reduce cellulite
  • boosts energy
  • boosts circulation
  • promotes tighter skin

WHEN AND HOW TO DRY BRUSH

It's important to dry skin brush the correct way (following the way lymph moves in the body) to get maximum benefit. I follow the method that is demonstrated in this video. This is another good video demonstration done by a lymphedema physical therapist.

I dry brush either right before showering or before going into my infrared sauna (I like to stack detox mechanisms).

After dry brushing and showering, I apply body oil combined with skin-loving essential oils. Do this to increase your skin’s glow and go along with your overall increased energy.

WHAT BRUSH SHOULD YOU USE?

The brush I use and love is from Primally Pure. As an aside, this is also where I get my favorite toxin-free deodorant (it actually works!). You can get 10% off sitewide with this code: RACHELRABA

Like to shop in stores? You can easily scout out a good dry brush at places like Ulta Beauty or Bed, Bath & Beyond.

Wishing you beautiful, detoxified skin, my friends!
